To go or not go.....

My fiance just dumped me. We were schedule to get married in Venice and honeymoon through Italy. I think he is involved with another woman. I'm crushed, I'm sad...and wonder if I should still go. We have our plane tickets, hotels reserved and paid for. Oooooooh, do you think I could meet someone in Venice to fill this void I feel? Do you think there is someone who can comfort me in this dire hour of need?
Please, please help me......

Wasn't there some Meg Ryan movie recently that went something like this?

Very sorry, Jane. I hope you go and have fun without the jerk.

Jane,

You should definately go. Italy is a magical place. For a couple of weeks, you'll forget about the heartbreak. When you return, you will have to face reality, but it will seem more distant, as you will be able to reflect on your fab Italian vacation. Go on, have a blast! Life is short. The heart is a resilient instrument.

Sorry Jane. I think going would be a good idea, as long as you don't go with the expectation of finding someone, because you may be setting yourself up for disappointment if you don't. Just make it a healing time and let whatever happen be. Do I think there is someone who can comfort you in this dire hour of need? Being a guy, I can tell you there will plenty who'd be willing to give it a try. Just don't end up feeling worse than you do already. Again sorry and let time take it's course. Someday there will be another guy, and this will be a fairly painless memory. Good luck.

Hi, Jane. I'm so sorry, but this too shall pass. I say go, too, but I also think you should heed Dan's advice. There will be plenty of opportunities to have a romantic fling in Italy if that's what you want. It can be fun and exciting, but just remember it will only be a fling. Don't expect more than that.

This reminds me of the girl that was jilted in NY a couple of years ago...the fiancee stood her up at the church I think, she went ahead, had the big party anyway..then the guy went to Bali for the honeymoon without her..it was on tv .. I guess it was a slow news week, if this is for real..go to Italy-but somehow I think that this is a troll in her" hour of need" ~c
