To buy or not to buy...

So, I've been checking my flight itinerary on Kayak for months now. We aren't going until September, but today, the open jaw tickets dropped below $1,000, which is the lowest I've seen. My question is, is it too early to buy? These are non-refundable, of course, and there is a $250 change fee per ticket. Barring any unforseen tragedy, we are definitely going. I guess I just wanted to know Fodorites opinion on whether it's too early. Thanks!

If you are happy with the price, buy. Airlines are bumping up the fuel supplements, and I recently heard that they are running at or near capacity.

If you are happy with the price buy. Take out cancellation insurance just in case.

I booked my September airfare last week. I decided not to wait due to rising fuel costs. I paid $1235. From Shreveport-Munich and return Frankfurt-SHV. It may go down or it may go up. I'm thinking it will go up even more.

Yeah, I'm going Austin to London and Munich to Austin and I just found a fare of $981 including taxes. I think I'm going to go for it.

Hi SJ,

When you find a price that is acceptable, take it. Don't look back.

Europe might not be under $1000 for a long time.

I'd do it. I bought our tickets for May back in October when they dipped under $1000. They got a tiny bit cheaper, but now almost everything is at least $1100 for our dates. You could look into trip insurance if you're antsy about it.
