How should we go to and from Malpensa as we are staying in the Repubblica area in Milan (only five minutes walk from Stazione Centrale)? Is the bus (Malpensa Shuttle) really slow due to traffic? Where do you buy tickets? Should we opt for the train? Is Malpensa as an airport worse (more crowded) than for example CDG or Brussels Zaventem? <BR> <BR>Thanks!

The bus isn't too slow, and it's confortable -- a big highway-cruiser type. I think the train from Malpensa goes to a different station (not Centrale) so if you're staying near there the bus may be the best bet. You buy the tickets at a well-marked booth near the main door of the airport. I haven't (yet) been to the other airports you mention, but Malpensa is much less crowded and easier to negotiate than JFK or O'Hare.

I second the above opinion - it's comfortable, took about a half hour as I recall and we bought tickets from the driver at the bus. It is right outside the central station - BIG writing on the side "Malpensa Express".

The express train from Malpensa arrives at the Cadorna Station (also called Stazione Nord). From there to Piazza della Reppublica it's about 3km.<BR>Paulo<BR>

Arrived into Milan (MXP)from the States @ around 8:00 am on a Friday morning and opted for the shuttle bus into town. Whichever one it was, my Delta flight was in that one; go down to the lower level and purchase your train ticket there. If flying via Alitalia, the ticket's a little cheaper --- think regular fare is around 13 or 15,000 lire. <BR>The Malpensa Express took 45 minutes from airport terminal to stop 'Cadorna Station' --- at Cardorna, you can connect with the subway if needed or step outside to taxi stand (Cardorna is a well marked station). <BR> <BR>Been thru Paris' CDG airport --- didn't feel that Malpensa was any worse.

The bus is very comfortable and takes about 45 mins from Malpensa to the Central Station. Very inexpensive and convenient. We purchased the tickets at a booth inside Malpensa (1st floor by door #1). The bus was waiting right outside.

Marpha: <BR> <BR>I'd HIGHLY recommend the Malpensa Express train over the bus. It's extremely clean, quick, and convenient. I was there in September, and my trip BOTH to & from the airport were free of charge, as I came in & departed oin TWA. Many of the airlines who fly into Malpensa have a similar arrangement (I also flew Austrian Airlines in & out of Malpensa; they did not have such an arrangement.). <BR> <BR>While it comes into Cadorna and not Centrale, the subway is connected to Cadorna, and it will take you to Centrale. <BR> <BR>Considering the fact that Malpensa is quite a distance from Milan, and considering that the traffic situation in Italy can be dicey, you're much better off with the train! <BR> <BR>Hope you have fun in Milan! It's one of my favorite European cities!
