Tipping a driver in Italy

I figured any number of you know the answer to this: what is the protocol for tipping a hired driver in Italy? We've hired one through our hotel, to pick us up at Milan airport and drive us to Bellagio (I think about 1.5 hours?). His fee is 150 euros. Thanks!

Guanciale - This might be an American protocol but it's not in Italy.

Italians wouldn't tip for an expensive taxi ride - so why feel that you should?

Hi g,

A tip is not expected, and should be provided only for exceptionally good service. about 5E.

I'll 2nd what ira said. It's not necessary, but 5 euros would be a nice gesture if you really like the service.
