Tipping

I am trying to find out how to get to the London underground tube driver so I can tip him/her after our trip. If there is no driver is there a way to slip in 5£ through a window? I?d hate to be thought of as an ugly American for not tipping when it is expected.

That's a good question! Now I feel guilty for not tipping the last many times I rode the tube...

How about pulling the Emergency lever (or is it an Emergency button)? Don't they have an intercom next to the Emergency lever? That way you can explain to the driver why you stopped the train and ask him/her to step into your train car to accept your tip.

My dear, a poor attempt at humour. If you are indeed sincere in your sentiments, please seek some professional medical care.

You e-mail your credit card number(s) to me, and I take care of it for you.

Best wishes,

Rex

Rex-

Before I email you my CC#s, do you charge a tip yourself on top of the tip I am going to give? If yes, is it a % or a fixed cost?

It's a percentage of your net worth, unless that is too small.

I'll round up, don't worry. Be happy.

tipyoh, I'm sympathetic, I felt the same way when I forgot to tip the pilot.

Wow, you mean I can just give them my credit card and tell them how much to charge for the tip? Perhaps this method would work as well for the nice policemen/tube security who stand by as you go through the exits. I always feel like I should be slipping them a fiver as well.

Perhaps tipyoh should remember the long-established advice that all London brothels display a blue lamp outside.

Discreetly tape your tip underneath your seat. The driver will know where to look.
