Not sure, Diane, which city you're referring to. Since both these shows have been out for some time, I would guess that you would be able to get either at a discount.

My opinion? Don't bother with Miss Saigon. Les Mis is great. Also look for the new play "Martin Guerre".
First, Diane, to clear the confusion caused by your posting. Though you posted on the UK forum, a lot of us are reading it in the broader Europe forum.
As for your question, the answer is "probably yes." In the case of Miss Saigon, I read that it's closing fairly soon (sometime this fall, I believe), which to me is a sign that business in not booming!
Yes you can get tickets to both of these productions at the half price booth but you may not save as much as you think. Both of these productions are popular and therefore the discount is not as great as on lesser productions.

I have seen both of these shows in London and they are great. Miss Saigon is closing at the end of October after a ten year run, I will miss it.

In three trips to London over the past three years, I've never seen either Miss Saigon or Les Mis available at the Leicester Square half-price booth. This may just have been an accident of timing, but it makes me think that they're not frequently sold there. Apparently they are at least sometimes, since Ed confirms this, but maybe not often enough that you can count on it.

That said, I'd be *very* surprised if you weren't able to buy same-day tickets either at the Palace (Les Mis) or the Drury Lane (Miss Saigon), and get reasonably good seats. I've been able to do so twice for Miss Saigon and once for Les Mis, no trouble at all. Since I see that Miss Saigon is indeed closing in October, you may face a little bit more of a squeeze as people push to get last viewings in, but you should be okay if you're willing to go to the box office (assuming Leicester Square doesn't have them).
