Check out the web site www.globaltickets.com and get the 800 number. Then call that number and ask for the most front and center seats available. That's what I did and we saw a show that brought tears to my eyes. The Tatoo is fabulous and I want to suggest that you not skimp on seat prices, but go for the best!

Forgive me, but I've never heard of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. We're headed for our first trip to Scotland in early June. Is this something we should try to see?

Prime rip-off territory for people preying on tourists and gets less and less Scottish as the years roll by but I suppose its worth a look.

Definately go to the Tattoo but keep in mind that it is a program only available in August. Call, don't use the internet, Globaltickets (www.globaltickets.com will give you the 800 number)and ask for the best up front and center tickets that are available. We loved every minute of this outstanding event from the center of row G, up front and center. Fabulous, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

The Tattoo is only in August, in conjunction with the Festival. It is a combination of historical pagentry, pipe and drumb teams, and military precision drill teams. Begins about 8:30 PM and last until about 11:30 PM on the nights of the performances. When we saw it a few years back, it included, in addition to traditional Scottish regiments, groups of Hong Kong Police, a Watusi group, and a US military team. Most of the seating is general admission; however, you can get reserved seats by calling the festival offices and using a credit card. At that time, they did send tickets to the US. You would need to act fast (and may be too late) for this year -- tickets sell out early and may already be gone. It definitely is worth seeing once -- twice, depends on taste.
