This site makes me crazy!
I found this site while doing research for my very first trip to Europe the last 2 weeks of March. Now I spend all day at work reading and re-reading these postings. (It is our slow time of year thank goodness!) My point is that reading about everyones great trips is driving me crazy because I still have 6 weeks to wait. I go home each night and am so excited my husband thinks I have lost it. I need serious help!

Vicki,
Topped two posts for you
1-Tommy's Life is Ruined....
2-You People Ruined My Life.
Read these and find out you are in good(?) company, and see that your madness has just begun!
I wish I could find the post, where people wrote what they actually did with their time, when Fodor's went down for a day or two, this past month!
It is sad, very sad, what we resort to doing with our time when thios site isn't working!
Where are you going?
Lucky you, only 6 weeks!
we still have over 4 months to go,(and I made our apt. reservations last April!)
Enjoy your trip.
I'm addicted and it is not a cheap addiction. I'm always getting ideas for our future trips. My husband says I am "obsessed" with traveling to Europe and with this website. He says there are other places to go - that we should see more of the United States. No, I don't think so!

I know how you people feel. I spend the few hours I have each evening at home on this site. Our trip to France in July 2001 is well into the planning stages and hotels are being booked on a daily basis.........what can I say it gets me through the long winter we are having this year...............
I too have purchased some things in an attempt to travel lighter and lighter.....today I picked up some special suntan lotion for the face in the teeniest jar and an even tinier tube of hand crea. All stuff I need but don;t want to carry in large containers.
Oh well, 5 months today I will be in Aix..........sigh!!!!!!!!!
oh yes Im addicted, but I hope I help others with some ideas while Im feeding my addiction........

Tim:

Too bad you can't share in the other postings and everybody else's enthusiasm (which I think is WONDERFUL too many people who have travelled seem to appear/act jaded)!. There's no need for you to be rude though.

Vicki - glad to hear you're excited. You're going to have a great time. Seeing things and experiencing them seems to replenish my soul. I've been to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris6 times now and every single time is like a new experience!

NOT a cheap addiction!

In the UK, we don't have unmetered internet access yet, so this is NOT a cheap addiction for me. Fortunately, I can spend most of my time at work 'surfing' on Fodors and Lonely Planet.

BUT what will I do tomorrow? I'm leaving work....will I have to leave Fodors as well??

(Fortunately, unmetered internet access is imminent, so it should only be a short absence!)

I am so happy that I found this site! We are getting ready to travel to Europe for the 1st time in Sept. The only site had I found prior to this was the Thorn Tree at Lonely Planet and I was getting so sad reading the crass postings that I thought maybe I'd be better off just staying home! Anyway, I am glad to ber HERE.

Sad to say...I'm hooked, my kids think I'm a geek, but it beats reality to talk and dream about trips, we are leaving in 2 weeks for France, and I'm already planning a Xmas trip tp Hawaii!...unless one of you knows a hot, sunny beach to spend the holidays at in Europe...

After finding this site a couple of weeks ago (and loving all the great info on it) I tried some of the other BBs on verious travel sites. I've concluded that this site is by far the best!! The format is easier for the first time user and the search option is so concise I rarely need to ask a "new" question. Fodor's is IT!!!
