Things to do in Capri

I am taking a bus trip to Italy in mid May. We are staying a Sorrento and are being transported to Capri and will have the day to ourselves and will be back in Sorrento for dinner. Does anyone have any ideas of things to do in Capri? Is it worth taking a boat ride around the island? We will need to walk or use public transportation .

Hi Ann:

Plenty of things to do, some of them are:
Visit Grotta Azzurra.
Take the chair lift to monte Solaro.
In Anacapri visit this church with a magnificent floor:

Sit down at the piazzetta and people watch.
Enjoy your visit!!!

Thanks for the information. I checked out the web site and the church looks fabulous and I have not heard of that. It will be a defined stop for us.

As suggested above, try to visit the Blue Grotto. It is dependent on the weather so check a couple of times during the day. Unless you can see the Blue Grotto, you really don't have the time for a boat trip around the island and all of the other things suggested above. Anacapri is lovely and has wonderful views. You can get there from Capri town by bus (about a 20 minute trip). Definitely visit the church - try to climb to the balcony to view the floor from above. Have lunch outside overlooking the sea.

Perhaps try these, from the tourist board....

And there's a nice guide to the three islands in the Bay, here:

(All of them are a little old now, so some times and prices may need checking!)

Thanks Peter. The trip advisor site especially looks great. Very informative with lots of directions as well as pictures. Can't wait to study it in more detail.
