Thessaloniki Hotels
Any suggestions for a hotel - not an airbnb - in Thessaloniki for late September? I'd like to be centrally located, close or on the water, and not in the Lakadika nightclub district. I'd like to keep the cost per night to E200-250.
Many thanks for your help.

There seems to be many hotels that fit your criteria on booking.com. We stayed at Blue Bottle Boutique hotel, but it is a very simple but clean hotel, not near the water and is walking distance to Ladadika. Their new hotel , Maroon Bottle boutique, is a little more high scale but farther from the water. I don’t know anywhere else being this was my first visit to the city this June. Sorry.

We really enjoyed Electra Palace Hotel. Great location right by the water, and an awesome breakfast buffet served at their rooftop restaurant (fresh fruit and veg, raw honeycomb, etc). We booked via a third party website, but breakfast was still included. Some of the rooms have balconies facing the gulf with seating. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Aqua, I have been eying the Electra Palace. I generally like smaller hotels - did you find it impersonal?
Debbie, a friend is staying at the Blue Bottle a few weeks earlier and wonders whether it is too close to night clubs re noise? Did you find good restaurants close by or is Thessaloniki centre small enough that's not an issue?
Many thanks for replying.

BowenLinda, it doesn't have the intimacy of a pension, but it didn't feel corporate and soulless. The front desk staff were very helpful, including calling and making a dinner reservation for us (Rouga; highly recommend).
In general, the downtown of Thessaloniki is fairly compact and walkable. We're modestly active at home and walked everywhere while we were there.
We really liked Thessaloniki, I hope you have a great visit!

BowenLinda, the Blue bottle is a number of blocks from the Ladadika district. I can’t imagine the noise could carry that far. We ate dinner there twice at Full Tou Meze. Looked like it was the busiest restaurant on the block. Well rated and recommended by the hotel. My husband had the grilled octopus, which he said was very good. salad was also good. They have many small plates. We didn’t have the opportunity to visit any other restaurants or explore more of the area besides the ancient forum, St Demetrius church and the Kapani market. Our time there was very short. I believe we paid about 80euros a night, but I see prices have gone up. We were there the nights on June 15 and June 23.
The Blue Bottle is not any kind of luxury hotel. It is small, has all the necessities and is clean. Staff is very nice. Beds were comfortable, pillows were not. On our return stay for a night before leaving Thessaloniki, they upgraded us to a larger room there. Everything was a little nicer, especially the pillows. They opened a new hotel a little further north, called the Maroon Bottle…. I believe they have suites there. But it is further from the water. Be forewarned. The neighborhood has a lot of graffiti, which seems to be the norm in Greece and gives an air of things being run down. It is located 2 blocks beyond Egnatia, which is a main thoughfare.
