Thank you for the link to The Hofwirt. I bookmarked it and maybe one day I might be able to go there. I have never heard about the VW Beetle museum, this sounds very interesting. I looked it up on Google, here is their site: http://www.kaefer.gaal.at/
I have never been in Gaal, but I am very fond of a little town called "Feldbach".
http://www.feldbach.at/
It has the most wonderful "Buschenschanken" where you can have incredible wine with a typical Styrian "Jause" for so cheap, you cannot believe it. Feldbach also has very interesting places to visit, the Steinerner Metzen (was built in the 15th century to weigh wheat), the Villa Hold (a gothic style villa built in 1890 - now a music school) and the Tabor (which was built in the 15th century to help people be safe from enemies) with it's 1. and 2. WW museum, farming machines museum, different trades museum, folklore museum, Hallstatt burial museum, the "nail man" museum, the "voluntary firefighters" museum, the "fishing" museum, the "sewing" museum and the "witches cellar", where about 70 people had to go through a witch trial.
I could go on an on here. I also LOVE the pumpkin seed oil mills. They produce one of the best oils that exist, in my opinion. But maybe more on that later (or with a new post).
I love Graz too, it has this world city falvor with still an intimate village character.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your input on Fodor's policies regarding "advertising" my tours.
Operaman and BTilke pointed that out to me already and I will not advertise my tours here, just talk about Austria.
But if you would like to know, I do host tours to Austria......ooops, I couldn't resist
Servus,
Karin

Thank you for those great links!
I think it is wonderful that you will write some guides for biking in Austria. Put me on the list! The trip from Passau to Wien along the Danube sounds very interesting and I plan to do it some day. My mother does it about once a year and loves it.
Happy cycling!
