Oh, I should have said that I did indeed watch the documentary, "The Death of Yugoslavia". While it doesn't cover the war in Bosnia, it is certainly enlightening regarding the background leading up to it. I highly recommend it. I still have to watch 'Romeo and Juliet".
As we are going to Mostar, I also watched the BBC report, "War in Mostar". This is a devastating video.

I also watched another documentary about Mostar, in which our soon-to-be host is featured. (Warning...there are very graphic scenes in this video!)

"The Death of Yugoslavia" is a six part documentary. Did you watch all six parts? (Yes, it's a lot!) I just finished watching part four, which is almost entirely about the Bosnian war. It's terrific (though of course heartbreaking).
I saw the Mostar documentary too, only recently - I wish I'd seen it before my visit in 2009. You'll walk over the re-built bridge in Mostar when you visit; in the documentary you can see people risking their lives just crossing it, trying to avoid the snipers.
There's also a good documentary (History channel I believe) on YouTube about Canadian General MacKenzie and his UN peacekeepers, in their initial mission to open Sarajevo's airport for food and medical supplies during the siege - and how some of those Canadian soldiers sometimes exceeded the UN's rules of engagement in Sarajevo (e.g. shooting snipers) and the later PTSD issues some of them had long after returning to Canada.

Well, the time has come. We are flying out tomorrow, arriving in Sarajevo on Monday. Thanks to everyone for your input. I truly value it.
As far as electronics go, I am only taking my smartphone. I don't see myself typing up major trip report entries on it, so I might post a few short status updates on this thread and then post a proper trip report when I get home.
Bok!

Have a great trip!
The rainy weather forecast for the next week is giving me cold feet - seriously considering postponing or canceling my trip. Photography is a major reason for my trip, after all...

@kja: thanks!
@Andrew: Yes, the forecast isn't looking particularly stellar. I'm hoping it will shift a bit. Based on our route and timing we will clearly hit some cool rainy weather during the first week of our trip, but so far it doesn't look like it will be for every day. The challenge for you is allotting a day to a place and then getting pouring rain -- no photos. Right now it looks like it will be very rainy for the 2 days we will be in Mostar. I hope that doesn't take too much of the charm away. We'll just take it as it comes and enjoy ourselves in any case.
