Elizabeth, I mght well be the person who pointed out earlier that 4-inch knives were indeed allowed on US flights. I agree completely that my hoard of weapons would have been "legal" on a US flight. But my recent message was an illustration in response to the suggestion that security was tighter at British airports. I have no idea what their official rules were, hence don't know if this was a failure of staff or regulations.
