The travelers' century club

I'm sure I won't qualify for about 40 years or so, but so many of you are so well-traveled that you may qualify:

travelerscenturyclub.org

It's a club of some sort where to join you have had to travel to 100 or more of what they designate are countries. With my recent Sicily trip I am only up to 9 "countries."

Interesting website! I checked the list of countries, and find by their definition, I have been to 19 countries. They allow you to list a country even if you have only had a brief stop--say a plane refueling, or a change of planes. By that definition, I have "visited" Ireland, South Korea, China, and Singapore--without ever stepping outside their airports.

Surely there must be some posters who have reached or are approaching the 100 mark? Come on, folks, count 'em up and post your totals here!

What a great club! Even better because I'm no where close to being able to join yet (although I did find an article that says that people who have traveled to 75 countries may join as aspiring members - not that this puts me significantly closer!).

Am I the only one who can't access their site, though? Perhaps there is some filter prohibiting people who've traveled to fewer than 40 countries, because I can't pull up either site, the one listed above or another URL I found, www.travel-cent-club.org.

I did find a site with an article that lists their list of countries as of 1996:

http://www.galenfrysinger.com/~galen/travelers.htm

I'm just holding out hope that they're still considering Hong Kong and Macao "countries", which will really help my score!

Neat idea! I'm up to 16, so have quite a ways to go to 100, but love the list. It gives me even more great travel ideas. And, I was absolutely shocked that my tiny part of the world was on the list. Wow!

I'm at 33 countries (same as my age), it'll take me a while to make it to 100.

I've got 42 thanks to the fact that

1. I worked for an international airline in the mid 70's
2. My father worked for an international aerospace firm and lived in a number of different countries
3. I worked for a data processing company with offices in Europe
4. Low airfares

Good grief! I have visited 33 countries without even realising it, I have never bothered to count them up. Still got so many places to see though and so little time!
