Then there are the places I plan to see in the future.

I'm with Betsy, here's a second vote for the Val d'Orcia. I've never seen such panoramic scenary. You can literally see for miles & miles. Someday I might even get around to posting our 10 night trip report from early July!

The Glenariff Forest Park waterfall walk in Northern Ireland. Fairies live there.

I live in N. Ireland so I'm biased!! Too many beautiful places to mention. Giants Causeway, Mourne Mountains, Glenariff to name a few.

Corsica: the beauty of the Med without all the concrete you find on the coasts of continental France or Spain. You've got it all: sea & mountain. The "GR" s (official hiking paths) are a bit crowded in summer though.

The Tatry mountains of Southern Poland. The city of Zakopane is right at the base and is beautiful.

The Soca valley in the Slovene Julian Alps. An aquamarine blue river floating through a wonderful landscape.

Slieve League Cliffs--higher and less touristed than the Cliffs of Mohrer.
Several spots along the Cornish coast.
Looking out over the harbor of Villefranche from the Rothschild Gardens.
The fells of the Lake country from the standing stones near K????? (sorry name of village not in my journal), but you're driving distance from Windemere and Ambleside.

The first one that popped into my mind .. looking back at the harbor in Collieure, France at just after the sun set. Those are the most beautiful pictures that we have ever taken. The sky was dark pink and almost navy blue, and the small boats were individual brightly colored paintings.

Hi

Second vote for the caldera at Santorini. Sunset in particular. Man, I just have to get back there...

Next would be the Amalfi coast.

Comakista Pass, Caherdaniel, Kerry, Ireland. Stand between two mountains and look down the South West coast of Ireland and out into the Atlantic. Breathtaking. But SSSSHHHH its a secret.

The north Pembrokeshire coast in Wales is just breathtaking - we love it so much that we relocated here last year from the Cotswolds! It's got everything; wild cliffs, beautiful beaches, tiny harbours, prehistoric sites, flower-covered moors.....much nicer IMHO than over-developed 'touristy' Cornwall for example!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned some of the places in Iceland.

That would be top of my list. I guess some people may not see it as beautiful because it is all so incredibly different to anywhere else. To me, it's it's the unique qualities that make it beautiful.

I also vote for the Soca River/Julian Alps in Slovenia. Pristine beauty in an undeveloped, out-of-the-way destination.
