The Marais in Rome?

We will be taking our 2nd trip to Rome in November. We've seen all of the highlighted tourist attractions, and are looking for recommendations on less touristy neighborhoods for walking & shopping. We love Paris' Marais & Ile St. Louis, and hope to find similar in Rome. Bluntly, where should we go to enjoy the city without vespa traffic and tourists? Thanks.

Josh,

I think you might enjoy Trastevere, a great neighborhood for strolling around. it's more residential and thus less touristy (at least in parts) than the more central areas of Rome.

Enjoy the trip-

Josh: Yes, Trastevere. I have not been there for some time, but I loved it too. There are nice small and typical restaurants around. If you like "Le Marais" you will like Trastevere as well!
