The Falling Euro

The euro is down to $1.26.

Will you be upgrading to a 4* hotel?

Shhhhhhhhhhh.

If I start paying less than $2 a gallon for gas, between those two I might go catatonic.

ira... I don't know if you have seen my posts to http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34617502 or not... but I think that what we have planned is the embodiment of this motto, quite nicely. See also http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34620593

Best wishes,

Rex

Do remember a week does not a trend make...sterling has dropped somewhat also down to roughly $1.83 interbank.

Maybe we'll see parity again...right!

Just came back from a two week trip to Italia. Every time I withdrew money from an ATM (Bancomat) it cost a little less in US dollars. Paid in cash wherever I could. Still expensive though.

Zeus - seriously - where?? (I know around Woodbridge/Perth Amboy, it's a lot cheaper for gas than around me (Princeton). I have to use premium, though, so anything under $2.20 gets me excited....

Hey rex,

I have followed your posts and have found no need to add anything to your well-planned visit.

Hey zeus,

Today, unleaded regular in Madison, Ga is $1.94.

The hotel we booked for one night in June in La Rochelle costs 111 euros. At the time of booking, that translated to $146.65. Today, the dollar-cost of the room is $139.91. I just don't know what I'll do with those "extra" seven dollars.

On the other hand, we pre-paid for our room in Bordeaux in dollars, so no savings there if the dollar continues to climb (but no loss if it starts to drop). C'est la vie.

I just figured, and that 4 cent drop will save me $50.00 total on my 5 night hotel stay in Rome! Those pennies really do add up.

Unleaded Regular is $2.59 in Seattle.

(Premium (which I have to use) is $2.79.)

Wonder how there can be a $.65 difference in regular between Georgia and Washington State.
