" fools, ignorant , arrogant , dumb ...."
Gee, thanks.

We have " fun" in Barcelona in spite of pickpockets, in
Paris in spite of "ring" scams and in New York in spite of muggings.

For some people, the place with most" fun" is probably their backyard.

Some comments (such as the one several comments back), seem to be mostly an effort to stir things up, as opposed to a genuine attempt to share information with each other. It's too bad, because a lot of helpful information-sharing takes place on this site.

Wow! That's lots of good info. There will be two of us going and we will be staying in city center, Hotel EuroPark, Aragó, 323-325, Barcelona.

"huh, well, I was just there a couple months ago and didn't have any problem with the thieves."

So what. You mistake luck for safety:

"Tourists may often confuse good luck with caution or proper planning. thus, when tourists pass on their travel tales to their relatives and friends, unrealized risks that do not result in dire consequences by pure chance, may influence others
to try the same. Others who repeat these risks may not be fortunate enough to escape unscathed."

"The use and effect of hazard The use and effect of hazard
warning signs. Managing visitor safety at Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers"

I know you don't want to take a bus but the Aerobus brings you directly from the aiport to Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Espanya.
The ride leasts more or less 30 minutes.
For a single ticket I think the price is around 6€.

Then, of course, the taxi. There are taxis on each terminal.
Good to know: an airport supplement fare of 3,10€ is asked, but small luggage are free!
