The best place I ever saw was on the island of Kauai. There is a national park and I could be mistyping it but I think it was called Kilauea (not the volcano) but a bird sanctuary with a beatiful lighthouse and a tiny separate island that had all the birds on it. The scenery was breathtaking and I am not an artsy fartsy type of guy.

Let's be honest with ourselves! The Canadian Rockies top the list!! Yeah been there done that - love foreign travel but nothing is quite like the Canadian Rockies!!!!!!!!!!

As a present Londoner, Irish born, Scottish raised, married to an Englishman and 20 years working abroad, - very pleased to see that so many visitors still like London. It can be dirty, dangerous and daft, but yes, it is still the best city in the world. (Although I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed New Orleans recently!)

I'm with John...Try East Tennessee during each of the four seasons, and you will discover true tranquility. Other destinations may be more EXCITING, but East TN feels like paradise. On the other hand, if you prefer something more exotic, Try London, Paris or Rome.

My fiancee and I went to St. Croix last June, and I was looking for a house to buy after the second day. Beautiful beaches, beautiful water, great food, friendly people, laid back attitude. Rent a car and drive around the small island, eat at a different place for every meal, and don't forget to tour the rummery.<BR><BR>Snorkeling is among the best in the world, and there is a great tri-maran to take you to an underwater national park.

Actually, St. Croix is the second best place for a vacation. The best is Mauritius. Stayed there several years ago at an all-inclusive resort. The food was caught right off the beaches and served up in a different nationality's cuisine each night. All meals were served on the veranda, and snacks were served at the swim-up bar.<BR><BR>The harbor is host to several water sports with training classes, if neccessary. There are tours to take inland, to the few small towns and to an extinct volcano. But, it is pleasant enough to just stay at the resort. I think its name was St. Geran. Most of the other tourists there were South African, but there were also a lot of Germans. Even though english speakers were in the minority, there was no trouble with communications with any of the staff. Most of them are fluent in at least 5 languages.<BR><BR>My kids were grade school age at the time and that is their most memorable vacation.

Favorite places:<BR><BR>Prague--magical! Culebra, Puerto Rico--remote beautiful beaches with nothing much to do. Nantucket, preferably not in July & August when it is overrun with tourists.

i think it depends on what you are looking for. I prefer holday where I both have fun and have time to relax and learn about the culture of the country I am visiting. I think there are millions of best places to see around the world. India for its mystisism, England for its green area and cultural events and history, Paris for its romance, Italy for its history, Greece for beaches sea and history Turkey for the same reasons of Greece which is cheaper then Greece I suppose. t wont be easy to find the best for me as there are really great places to visit.<BR><BR>www.visitkusadasi.com<BR>

If you want to relax, head for the Caribbean and a remote island called Saba. We watched a dog sleep in the only road in town for over two hours.<BR><BR>Dutch holding with Caribbean sun.

Can't beat Asia for food and hospitlity. Several spots of rememberance are cental Bali, Indonesian, highlands of Malaysia, Bangkok and Komodo Island, Indonesia.

I asked my daughter, who is now 20, what was her best travel memory. I thought she would have said watching dolphins in Kauai. She picked Varenna, Italy on Lake Como because it felt like going back in time to a small Italian village. We stayed in a very small hotel, Albergo Olivedo, right on Lake Como (and the ferry dock I might add). The first weekend in July the little towns put on a fantastic fireworks display over the lake and we watched it from our hotel balcony. They also floated candles on the water. <BR><BR>After that she says---PARIS. Loves art.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia - really. It is unbelievable.

Wow, the best huh? Tough question. Of teh places we have visited so far I would have to put these at the top:<BR>BORA BORA, PRAGUE, JAIPUR, SINGAPORE. Bon Voyage!

So far in my travels I've loved Australia, New Zealand and the south of France. Given that you have teens - they may not appreciate the same things in the South of France that you and your husband would. I bet they would like Australia and New Zealand (New Zealand is really my favorite). Both have such a relaxed atmosphere, breathtaking scenery - and if you are at all outdoor lovers, the options for hiking, biking, water sports, etc and limitless. I went when I was about 17 and really loved the wildlife and nature part of my travels. Just a few thoughts.
