It really depends on your taste. My 2 favorite places in the world are New Zealand and Thailand. NZ has such wonderful people but the real beauty is the topography.<BR><BR>Thailand is interesting more because of the culture/street shops. But for outdoor fun, there's nothing like riding on an elephant through banana fields in Chiang Mai.<BR><BR>You might also want to consider any dietary restrictions. <BR><BR>While I have not been, some of my family found the Galapogos Islands to be incredible. You can couple that with a trip through the jungles of Ecuador. If so, I suggest the Casa del Suisso, which is a beautiful but rustic lodge in the middle of nowhere. The guides take you through unmarked trails and some rafting.<BR><BR>Have fun !!!

It has been interesting and amusing to read all these responses. I agree with so many of them...<BR>However, I would like to know, what do Yosemite and the Great Smoky Mountains National Parks have to do with Paris, Rome or Madrid. I have seen all of them and I live one hour fron the Smokies (where we go at least twice a year).Is it not like comparing apples and oranges? Please!!

I think the best place in the world is Darby, PA, USA. It features a home with a small airplane suspended upon its roof, a very large (but scenic) rock, as well as some fine examples of architectural decay and blight.<BR><BR>The locals are particularly friendly, especially if you are interested in shopping - the &quot;must buy&quot; item is a magic white powdery substance, sold in plasticine bags.

Like many have said, it depends what you are looking for. Since I live in a very beautiful, relaxing place near beach and in the country, my favorite vacation is in a City, and that city is PARIS! My fantasy best vacation (hopefully to become a reality) is BORA BORA; I haven't been successful in convincing my husband to go on a tropical vacation until recently. I have only seen it in pictures, but I hear from seasoned travelers it is the best tropical destination.

To me the best trip would be a trip to Wales and England and if you have a hotal in England then you would need a car and you could drive to Wales. Wellk ok i am welish and English so to me it is fun to go to my hometown but really it is a fun place to go! and your kids will have fun too! so you get a great trip and a fun time and a history lesson all in one!

Abso-posi-lutely true! We make our own Best Places in how we receive and react at any given moment to where we are, whom we're with, and what we're doing.

I know I have only &quot;now&quot;. The past is unreachable, the future is only one of my assumptions.

Trite, perhaps. But also true.

For me the best part about travel is that it jolts me out of my ruts, forces me to reevaluate my own assumptions, to rethink how I deal with the world, and seems to make every &quot;now&quot; even more intense.
