Zeus, there have been hundreds of posts ib severak threads about AR8 on the US board and even a few on the Latin America one.
Not much reason to discuss this one on the Europe board
Wish the little kids were still in the race!

I, too, am so dissappointed in this season's AR. We, as Americans have seen hundreds of times(even if only on tv, magazines, etc.) all of the places they have visited so far. Oh, how I long for the European AR and for people that are interesting enough that you want to watch. I must admit that for most episodes this season, I have fallen asleep before I see who gets eliminated. Bring back the old style of Amazing Race.

Could someone tell me really simply what this show is about and what network it's on and on what day? I've never seen it. I hear (read) people talking about it, but tend not to pay attention since I don't know what it's basically about, so the detailed comments just don't mean anything to me.

It is on CBS on Tuesday nights.
Up until the present race, it has consisted of two person teams that have some type of relationship (married, related, dating, friends) racing more or less around the world in segments, with the last place team in a segment usually eliminated.
Each segment is a series of fairly straight forward clues followed from site to site. A couple of times in the segment, there are tasks to perform. They have a limited budget for things like taxis and food. Their coach airfares are paid for them.
The overall winner gets a million dollars. The heat winners sometimes get nice prizes as well.
This particular race (number 8) the teams are all related and made up of four people). There are a few children.
This race has stayed all in the US (except for 2 segments in Central America) and most of the travel has been the teams driving themselves.
Most races there is at least one team that seems overly nasty or dysfunctional. That may be exaggerated by the editing.
The unusual thing about race 8 is that all but one of the teams became very close during the race. They still contact each other regularly, and even took care of a team that lost their home to Katrina.

As much as I've always adored The Amazing Race, just haven't been able to get into this one. Afraid I forgot to look last night. Who got axed?
Looking forward to the next time around when they get back to the original format. I don't want to see America! Too close to home.

The team with 4 sisters got axed last night. They all but admitted that while they love each other, they don't really like each other very much. And said they were disappointed by the way they treated each other during the race.

While we have watched each episode, this Amazing Race has been the least interesting. It is really hard to root for any of the teams.
All teams act self-righteous, blaming the other teams for being mean or rude. All of them are rude and have said mean things.
Who will win? I really don't care. None of the teams are really that likeable.
Another reason this is a season that isn't great, in my opinion, is that it's been all in the US, for the most part. What I have always loved about the show are the different cultural experiences that each team has had to go through. Watching previous Amazing Races has let me travel vicariously.

Next week happens to be the final episode of this race, cmt.
There should be a new one in the new year.
I didn't come to the the show until about the 5th race. It is the only reality TV show that I have watched for more than a few minutes.

I agree with Keith. An international Amazing Race would be fun. So would a celebrity Amazing Race. Could you see Stevie and Edie on Amazing Race? Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward? Kathy Lee and Frank Gifford? Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston-- better nix that one.
