No, yk, no! Don't confuse me now that we've made a decision! All I want to hear now is "You guys made a great choice! Way to go!" lol

I have stayed at the Hotel Port Royal. Very clean hotel and I think well situated. Some great restaurants and eating areas (budget) between there and Notre Dame. We liked the area. Metro accross the street and a MacDonald's..we had coffees.

BTW, the Agora Saint- Germain has room phones...well, there was a phone in the room my friend and I had ; I'm assuming all rooms have same..
Be sure to write the address of the hotel on a slip of paper to show your cabbie so you don't end up at the 'other' Agora.
Have a fabulous trip.

Last night I looked up the Agora and the Abbaital in my Hotels of Charm and Character and both got high marks.
I know you both must be SO excited!

We have reserved a double room at Abbatial for 95E! Two twins was an extra 15/night, so we'll manage.

Jocelyn, I hate to add one more post when you're finally decided, but for me having twin beds when traveling with a friend would be way more important than most other factors. I'd get the dimensions of the bed at least, because it might be a smallish double bed.

WillTravel,

I hear you. We've seen many pictures of double beds from this hotel and they look to be at least queen sized. We've been friends for a long time, and we're both solid sleepers, so I'm sure we'll be fine.

Good question, Suzie.

I bought the condensed "portable" Frommer's guide to help us with logistics, but for the most part I think we'll just go wherever the wind takes us (not literally, I hope). So far, according to the long-range forecast, it looks like the weather should be okay, so we hope to walk from sight to sight as much as possible. I do have a fairly short shopping list--for me, family, and friends, but again, enjoying ourselves is the main goal. If I had to list the three top attractions for me (Becky's may be different), they would probably be:

Musee D'Orsay
Churches (especially Notre Dame and Ste Chapelle)
This hot chocolate everyone raves about!

What I'm anticipating most, though, is the experience of just being in the city; people-watching, finding out for myself what the French people are like, and discovering the spirit of the city. Can I do that in 3 days???

I am an American, but I am sick and tired of Americans still having an attitude towards the french. Now we know that french were totally right, and we should have listened to them !You know that deep inside, but why is it so hard for you to admit it !

Huh? How did this become a political thread all of a sudden? Please discuss somewhere else so my thread doesn't get shut down.
