TGV Paris to Bordeaux 1st or 2nd Class
Can someone tell me the major differences between first class and second class on the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux? Is first class worth the difference in price?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I haven't been on that exact route, but I would assume it's about the same as on any TGV route, not specific to Bordeaux. NO one can decide for you if it is worth it or not. It's basically "nicer", I don't know how else to put it -- a little more space, often less crowded, sometimes the floor is carpeted and it isn't in second, etc. You'll have to decide for yourself, there is no major difference that you can specify, exactly -- both have seats and will get you there, and second class is fine on French trains.
Have you ever been on a train in Europe? It's not too different in any country I've been on in terms of differences between first and second -- first is just a bit nicer and often less crowded because it costs more. I don't find TGV fares that expensive that it's a hindrance to me to pay for first class for a long trip (especially if you get a PREM). I never pay for it for short trips.

Christina is spot-on. It's all relative and only you can decide.
Having recently done Paris-Rennes first class and Paris-La Rochelle second class...my husband, Mr. "I only go through life Once", would definitely say First Class. Miss Penny-Pincher, here, would say Second (all the while wishing I was in first).
Second isn't bad, first is just better-quieter, less crowded for sure. More businessmen. Second class is more students (those that I've been on), families.

I've taken it several times in July (all the way to Biarritz or Hendaye at the border, an almost 5 hr. ride) and have always opted for first class and have snagged discounted fares. It's worth it to me during the high season-quieter, less crowded, thus more room for your luggage, as klondike and Christina tell you.
