I think there is a city bus. If you want to take a taxi, Tegel is closer to much more of the city than the old Schoenfeld airfield. Tegel is within the city limits of the old West Berlin while Schoenfeld is outside Berlin in the old Soviet sector.

Can not recall the exact cost of taking a cab from Tegel to Kempinski @ 27 Kurfurstendamm, but it was convenient and not that much. It is a short drive from Tegel to the hotel ( 15 minutes + or - 5 minutes)and I would think given the short distance that the easiest and most effecient way and the least expensive way is via cab. Not sure of the distance, but Tegel can be no more than 10 km from the Kempinski.

Public transportaion is not very good from Tegel. Involves a bus ride to the S-bahn.

Taxi is best.

I disagree with the above poster - there are several bus lines at Tegel, one of which will take you to the Ku'damm directly (forget which). Just did this this past summer.

Taxi it is....thanks! I just wanted to make sure the cost was reasonable. i.e. London Gatwick to Central London via cab is expensive due to the distance.
