Teen on passport

I read that a teen can go to France on the parent's passport. I'm not sure I get it. My husband already has his passport. Can my 13 year old son forget about getting one then? Must his name be added to my husband's passport?

Help!

We took our 17 year old last year to Europe and he absolutely required his own passport, assuming you are a U.S. resident.

Wow...I never heard of that, if that's the case, we just took a licking. From our understanding, and we already did it, our children (12 & 15 years old) required their own passport, which we recently applied for and purchased. While an adult passport lasts 10 years, the childrens are not as expensive, but only last 5 years.

Try the state department's website for passport regulations.
