My 14 y.o. daughter and I will be in Rome and Florence in February. I love coffee, but my daughter is a tea drinker. Any chance of finding a cup of tea for breakfast at a coffee bar? Or should I pack some tea bags and make sure she gets her caffeine fix before leaving the hotel each morning?

I've never found a cafe in Italy that DIDN'T serve tea.

Always made properly, with boiling water. Practically always served in a teapot. More often than not the teapot had been warmed first as well.

Sadly though, nowhere serves PG Tips.

I am a lifelong tea drinker who became a coffee drinker in Italy (I've never had even a sip of coffee before our trip!).

I had no trouble finding tea - had tea at hotel breakfast buffets, coffee bars and at restaurants.

I wouldn't spare another minute worrying about it - unless your daughter is particular about a specific brand of tea. The most common tea that I found was Twinings.

I am also a tea drinker, and our apartment owners (local) told us about this tea shop.

Not only do they have every kind of tea under the sun, but an upstairs tea room with homemade cakes and tea.

I brought home some chocolate, cinammon and orange tea which I had this AM which was out of this world.

Thanks for the good news. Sam will be delighted to have her morning tea out and about in Rome, and not holed up in the hotel. Thanks, too, wanderer, for the name of the tea shop. We will seek it out.

We are becoming giddy with excitement. February can't come soon enough!

Do take a few tea bags with you. Though most euro hotels don't serve after mid-morning, they will usually provide a cup of hot water upon request.

When we were there in Jan/Feb we both came down with slight colds. A cup of tea was called for at bedtime.
