Tartu or Parnu

We have one day/night to stay in either Tartu or Parnu between Tallinn and Riga...Which one do you prefer/suggest and why?
Thanks...

Well, Pärnu is comfortably in half way (staright line up or down) between the two. Tartu is way more east so the trip would be much longer.

Otherwise Tartu is better for winter, Pärnu for summer. Tartu is an old university town, Pärnu is "the summer capital of Estonia". Very different atmosphere.

Thanks...This will be in May, so not really summer or winter...Are the mudbaths/spas in Parnu as good as I read?

That is my answer to a Pärnu mud bath question. There are good spas all over Estonia, not just in Pärnu, and mud (or peat) bath is sort of standard spa treatment in these corners of the world.

But if you have so little time choose to drive through Pärnu. It is a cute little town.

Parnu is on our list to see on the way from Riga to Tallinn. Hope it's a great sunny day the day we need to make the trip!
