Tamepere and beyond...

Hello,
I am going to Tamepere at the end of this month for business. I will be there for 5 days. I will have about a day and half to go sightseeing.

I wanted to know if there are suggestions as to what I should see?
Is it even worth it to try to make it to Helsinki for a day? If so, any suggestions as to what I should see? Some of my friends suggest that I should go to a spa.

Finally, I have a question regarding shopping. What types of products is Finland known for?

Any help with my questions would be greatly appreciated!

Katrina

Tampere (note spelling) is the second-biggest city in Finland. It's a long way from Helsinki, and I can't see why you'd want to go to Helsinki, unless you have something very specific you want to see in Helsinki.
Finnish scenery is lakes, forests, lakes, forests, ... It can be beautiful, but it's all the same. If you haven't been there before, then you can see it around Tampere, without going to Helsinki.
Try doing a search on Tampere for things to do.

Thank you for your response! I realized that I didn't spell Tampere correctly after I submitted my post! That is what I get for posting without previewing my work.

Not really, many people even commute to work daily. The fast trains take only 1,5 hours.Tampere tourism pages here: http://www.tampere.fi/english/tourism/ Helsinki tourism pages here: http://www.hel2.fi/tourism/EN/matko.asp

If you are tired, why not. But if the weather is beautiful I would take a lake cruise on an old steamboat. >>> What types of products is Finland known for?<<< Glas, design.

Elina,
Thank you so much for the websites and advice.

I just found out that one of the conference excursions that I signed up for is a lake cruise.
