Talgo Night Trains - Anyone Have any Experience?
Hi everyone,
We are debating about whether to take the Talgo HotelTrain from Paris to Barcelona in October. We would like to go GranClass which includes compartment with WC/shower, dinner and breakfast. As you probably know, it is quite expensive.
Earlier this summer, I checked the airfares and most airlines (AF, etc.) were charging almost 500.00USD. This past week, however, I just found an EasyJet fare for 20% of the cost of the HotelTrain. And of course, my Scottishness frugality is coming out full force...
Now, have any of you taken a Talgo HotelTrain? Could you give me your take on whether it was worth the cost - experience? Would you recommend it?
Thanks.

You do not have to use Gran Classe. If you shower after breakfast on the morning of your departure you can take normal first class, use the toilet (bathroom) at the end of the corridor, dine in the restaurant car, and sleep in as wide a bed as gran classe gives you.

Thanks Intrepid and Ben for your comments.
Intrepid, The cost aside - did you feel it was a worthwhile and enjoyable experience? Would you do it again? I really do love train travel.

I would indeed do it again. Not an experience at the level of Michangelo s David or the Museum at Checkpoint Charlie, but pleasant
