Exactly! So next time someone mentions it, I hope you won't feel compelled to contradict or question the poster.

Saying that "Murren is a tad closed in with mtn walls near the village," to me gives a very wrong impression of cliff-top Murren - makes it sound like Lauterbrunnen. So I will continue to object to that phrase without qualification. gottit?

If something gives a very wrong idea of a place by the way it is phrased yes we should explain it a bit better. That is not contradicting her opinion. capiche? Nuff said on my part.

The above picture that captures my experience of Mürren

OK- Murren has obscured views - another reason why folks should stay in say Wengen if they want a car-free small village - I never recommended Murren anyway and now more reason not to.

kja, that was my general view of Murren above, but the waterfalls were lovely. They are just different and to each his own. Sue

OK - we can talk about views in Murren - and it does seem like though it is on top of a cliff the walls of Lauterbrunnen Canyon opposite do hem in views, at least from parts of town. Not sure why Murren is so popular - maybe its remoteness - more so than Wengen -having to take a train to Lauterbrunnen then lift to Grutschalp and train to Murren. So I am persauded that Murren though not in a canyon like Lauterbrunnen is a bit hemmed in by that canyon's walls.

Nuff said- cheers!
