I’d like to suggest that we step back for a moment….
I truly appreciate that Fodorites jump in to offer their opinions, regardless of the extent or recency of their experiences. Kudos to all who offer their input so generously!
But at some point, I think there is merit to deferring to currrent expertise – in this case, I think, the input of neckervd. Please forgive me if I’ve omitted others who have offered current accurate information…..
I must admit that I prefer to direct people to ways to find answers on their own (give a person an answer, and they have an answer; give them a way to FIND an answer, and they have a key to the future) – but that’s just me. If what one wants is information about transportation in / through Switzerland, I’d look no further than what neckervd posts. JMO.
And maybe people might consider stopping daily postings that don’t directly speak to issues that haven’t already been addressed in full? Just a thought….

I do very much appreciate everyone's comments/suggestions. This is the first time I have posted a question in this forum. In fact, it took me a while to realize that OP referred to me (original poster)
A novice to international travel, I am not. Switzerland with its varied climates and having a limited time frame, I was just curious to see what people who have actually been there suggested. Yes, I do have my guide books but was interested in the input of others. Once again, thanks to all of you.

Yes I should refrain from using OP without explaining it for newbies. And you can also 'top' your own thread after it sinks into Fodor's blackhole so that more folks will see it after you bring it back up.
Most just post
"topping" as a post to do that.
Guidebooks are good for lots of things but having others who have been there - many times in the case of many Fodorgarchs - are invaluable as you get many different opinions.
