I have been reading this with interest because I'm trying to figure out if a Swiss pass will work with us. There will be 4 of us staying in Murren and mainly taking the rail system to do hikes around the Murren area for 3 days. Day 1 we will take the rail/cable car from Interlaken to Murren. Day 2 for hikes and sightseeing and on Day 3 sight seeing and then heading to Interlaken to Luzern to an overnight train trip to Venice. Is it worth getting the 3 day Swiss Rail pass? Will it cover the overnight ticket from Lucern to Venice which is 235 CHF for a sleeper if purchased separately?

In case anyone is interested, I have an answer to my own question about the "50% reduction on connecting tickets" on the Jungfrau Railways Pass. I emailed information and was told:
"With the Jungfrau Railways pass you travel for free until the station Eigergletscher. The information on the internet means, that you get 50% reduction on train-tickets from Eigergletscher to the Jungfraujoch. There is no other reduced routes for holders of the Jungfrau Railways pass."
So I guess there's no hidden advantage that we didn't know about.

That's great. Now, if I purchase the Half-Fare card, do I get 50% off from Eigergletscher to the Jungfraujoch?

Silvia- as far as i can see a 4-straight day Swiss Pass, saver, may be the best bet for you as it would cover in full all your trail travel - including to Murren and back (via Stechelberg and cable to Gimmelwald and Murren since the Lauterbrunnen-Grutschalp-Murren funicular has been closed and the replacement aerial cableway will not open until nov) - it would cover getting to the BOB and to the Swiss border on the night train - most of the train fare, dollar-wise, to Venice - but sleeper is always extra - no real passholder discount on that.
The regional pass would not cover in full to Lucerne or any of night train and the half-fare card, which costs only a few dollars less than a Swiss Pass would probably end up costing you much more than the pass.
