Swissair stops operations?
The website says, "goodbye." That they ceased operations after 71 years on March 31st.

Hmmm....I have a May ticket with Swissair codeshares on it (thru USAir.)

There's no other info on the website I could get to. Anyone know what's going on?

Don't fret, your ticket is now good on the new airline, Swiss. The assets of Swissair and Cross Air, have merged into the new airline, Swiss.

Swissair and Sabena filed bankruptcy last year. In order for Swissair to emerge from bankruptcy, its assets and the assets of Cross Air have become Swiss.

Just as an addition to this thread, I flew on Swissair last week, and was in the Zurich Airport. Many of the airlines were having a new skin put on the outside with the new name Swiss, and also added was the name in multiple languages. The colors, however, are the same.

I also spoke to a very nice woman from Switzerland on one of my flights and she said that in general the Swiss public was embarrassed by the bankruptcy, and can only hope that the new company will be profitable so that the Swiss can be proud.
