SW Ireland Tips

We are leaving for the southwest this Sunday and are looking for any last minute tips. We'll be staying in Dingle, Kenmare, and somewhere in Cork (Kinsale perhaps?). Any suggestions of restaurants, pubs, or B&Bs appreciated! I've got the 2002 Town & Country Book, and have also checked out irelandexpert.com, but would love to hear some personal recommendations. Thanks!

We will be going to Ireland in a few weeks and I've been led to believe that Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula and Connors Pass are musts! Have a great trip!

I can recommend a guest house in Dingle called Heaton's (wonderful breakfasts) and there is a restaurant in Dingle called Beginish (sp?) which is wonderful.

Check out www.premier-guesthouses.ie

We stayed at Mal Dua House in Clifden and it was really fantastic - there seem to be some lovely properties in the Cork/Dingle area.

You will love Kenmare. Every town has its points, but we really thought Kenmare was particularly charming. Didn't stay there, but wished we had. Be sure to go into Quills for all kinds of gifts or souvenirs.

KDR:

Dingle was my favoite! Take the connor pass, try and do it on a clear day!. The "slea head drive" I found more spectacular then the "Ring of Kerry".
I stayed in Clonakilty in West Cork. Kinsale is a wonderful town. If you have time I would try and fit in the Cliffs of Moher, and the Burren!

JOHN

Went to Ireland last May and booked most B&B's and hotels through recommendations on this site. The most interesting place that we stayed was Ballyvolane House a few miles north of Cork. It was listed on hiddenireland.com. The owners filled us in on the house's "interesting" history!

Dingle was the most scenic. Plan on a whole day to travel the ring of kerry.
