Sunday in Frankfurt

I will be transiting in Frankfurt from Saturday evening till Sunday afternoon. Any ideas on what to do for Sunday morning? I've been to Frankfurt's Roemer area, Mainz,Wiesbaden & Heidelberg a few times. Anyone knows if there is anything on Sunday mornings in Bockenheim or Sachsenhausen or other areas within the greater Frankfurt area?

Hi, DAX

From the Roemer, I would cross the river Main on the Eiserner Steg to reach the Städelsches Kunstinstitut und Städtische Galerie, one of Germany's most important art museums. Afterwards eat lunch at an Apple Wine tavern in Sachenhausen. (I like Zum Wagners).

Thanks Bird, I assume you're sure that Sachsenhausen is alive on Sunday.

Vt Traveller: Thanks, I like your idea of Asschaffenburg since I've never been there. I have to run some errand in Frankfurt on Saturday, fortunately I will arrive at 8:30 am so perhaps I'll have time to consider going to Asschaffenburg, but actually I was hoping for something closer.

IS ANYONE familiar with BAD HOMBURG? I'd appreciate some details from someone who's been there. What's the best/exciting part etc.

In Wiesbaden there is a place I think it's something like An American Sports Bar or something like that. I can not remember the name. Our Daughter, Son-in-Law and Grandaughter take us to it when we visit. It has a very good brunch that has good pork ribs, eggs and all the other breakfast stuff, as well as the best augratin-scalloped potatoes I have ever had. It is by one of the main squares is all I can remember, where they have the Xmas fairs. I guess you can check the phone book. I do know it is very popular with everybody,; locals as well as tourist

I've enjoyed Bad Homburg twice.
There is a beautiful park with some interesting sculptures and over 100 varieties of trees.

Then there is the Taunus Therme, it's huge complete with a movie theater. It was in need a good cleaning the last time we were there but it wasn't horrible but just under the usual standards.

DAX,

I'm pretty sure that the Apple Wine taverns are open on Sunday - but not 100% certain.

I spent the afternoon in Bad Homburg and found it pleasant enough, but it was quite dead when I went in early may.

I would stick with the museums and taverns in Sachsenhausen. Eat the boiled beef with green sauce like Goethe did when he strolled the streets there.
