Suitcase Dilemma

Interested in the train/suitcase dilemma. We
will visit Rome in May, taking train from
airport to Termini, stay several days, then train to coast for 9-day cruise.Coast of Italy,France,Spain. Just measured our bags. 23/24" expandable rolling carryons with 2smaller bags that slide on over each handle. Feel we must take some dressier stuff that we usually don't take.
Brochure says country club casual. Advice?

Not sure what the dilemma is. We traveled with similar size bags through Austria and Hungary with trains. You will each have to lift your bags from time to time, but probably not carry them long distances. Assume the wheelons have handles and the smaller bags have shoulder straps?

That sounds like good luggage for the trip you describe.

I don't think you'll have a problem. We normally take a 26" and 27" with no particular difficulties.
