Suggestions Needed for Berlin Walking Tours

I would like to take a 4-to-6 hour walking tour that will give me a good overview of Berlin. I have seen Original Berlin Walks, Insider Tours and Terry Brewer's Walking Tour mentioned favorably on this board. Which one of these walking tours is the best option for a first-time visitor?

Thanks in advance.

In order to answer that, I'd have to have taken all three, but I can tell you that you should get good value from the Brewer's tour. I can't say which guide you will get, but I've heard good things about the others.

Ditto what WillTravel said.

We took the all-day Brewers tour and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Just excellent. It was about 8-9 hours long, but the time just flew by.

I'd encourage you to take the tour on your first day there, so the rest of your visit to the city is in perspective.

My husband and I did the regular "Insider Tour" of Berlin and loved it. Later in the year, my daughter and I did the Sachsenhausen Tour and the Potsdam tour that they offer. We thought all of them were really, really good. Later this fall we plan on going back and doing the 3rd Reich Tour and the Cold War tour. What is nice about "Insiders" is that they offer their tours in Spanish, Italian and Hebrew too.

We took the 3-1/2 hour, free New Berlin walking tour and enjoyed it very much. No one left our tour, but if you decide you don't like it or you want to leave the tour for some other reason, it doesn't cost a penny. We did tip the guide--he was excellent.
