Suggestions for Upcoming Ireland Trip
I will be traveling with my husband to Ireland in June. We have majority of out reservations made along with some areas we would like to explore. We would really appreciate any comments or suggestions of slight changes in our itinerary.
We are both in our 70’s and enjoy history, natural beauty and experiencing the local culture. We enjoy walking, photography, easy hiking along with spending time at castles or other historic sights.
We are planning on self driving but hoping to hire some local guides to show us some non touristy destinations to get a better glimpse of the local culture and history. Any suggestions of local guides would be appreciated.
This is what we have planned.
Arrive Dublin via red eye and stay 3 nights (1st day to recover; two days to explore)
Travel to Cork with sightseeing along the way; 1 or 2 nights in Cork
Travel to Killarney area for 4 nights - maybe one night in Dingle to do the Slea head drive. 3 nights in Killarney, do the Ring of Kerry, explore the park and one night at Dromoland.
Travel to Galway area for 4 nights one day to explore cliffs of Moher. The other possibility is 3 nights Galaway and one in Clifton.
Travel back toward Dublin for a night before leaving the next day to return home.
We would enjoy staying in a historical sight outside of Dublin.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
