Suggestions for Hotel in Rome w/ pool near Borghese Garden

Can anyone help with suggestions for a nice but affordable hotel near Borghese Garden / Spanish Steps? It would be great if they had a pool. We'll be there for a week in mid- June. Any help is greatly appreciated! Annielou

What is "affordable" - we need your budget in order togive useful advice.

Very few hotels in rome have pools and they tend to be the most upmarket. Agree that you need to give us a specific price - and how many people we're talking about.

a pool? Maybe you'd want to find someplace outside the city so you could daytrip in? Truthfully, there are probably villas with pools where you could stay in nearby Umbria locations, and daytrip into Rome.

Doesn't the Aldrovandi have a pool? I am sure that the rates are much, much higher than 150E/night, though.

Will an en suite bath suffice? A pool in Rome for 150 Euro a night? Please tell us you were kidding.

This is a challenging request. For €150/night for 3 people it will be difficult to find any hotel in Rome in June, let alone one with a pool. June is the high season in Rome so availability and pricing will be a challenge. The prices drop 30% on July 1...for our future planning. I recommend forgetting about the pool and immediately begin looking for a nice hotel in your price range. Here is the link to the hotel at which we always stay. It is about as inexpensive as you will find that time of year. Add €10 to the prices for AC.

you'll have to decide which of position, pool, or cost is your main criterion.

personally, cost and a/c would be what I would be looking out for, as IMHO there are no huge advantages in being near the Borghese gardens. Better get somewhere within budget which has A/C.

callnurse has the right idea - use one of the hotel booking websites or TA to narrow down what you want and find a good price, then BOOK IT using their generous cancellation terms while you look for something better.

Thanks all. Actually, NYCfoodsnob, I wasn't kidding. I found a great place for $200 a night with a beautiful pool at the Crowne Plaza St. Peters .

But the Crowne Plaza isn't in central Rome and is nowhere near the Borghese Gardens/Spanish steps . . .

Congrats, Annielou.

Good choice (will remember for future). I actually prefer the area around St peters!!

Suggestion: next time seeking a hotel, perhaps enlarge the "acceptable" area. I think most of us were thinking of a hotel with pool nr Borghese or Spanish steps with pool. The only one I could think of right AT those areas was the Westin Excelsior, abut $350/night!

That hotel is not exactly close to St. Peters--several kms away if the map I looked at is correct.
But the pool looks great!

Just an FYI -- The Crowne Plaza is 'called' St Peter's -- but it is not at all near St Peter's. It is more than 2 miles west of the Vatican, 4 miles from the Spanish Steps/Colosseum/Trevi, and a mile from the nearest metro (all per the hotel's website)

Well, you have your pool - but will spend an awful lot of time - and possibly money - getting to the center of Rome where the sights are.

If you were willing to stay that far out, you could have easily found lots of hotels with pools cheaper on via Aurelia (Ergife Palace, Holiday Inn, Palazzo Carpegna, Princess, Melia, Parco Tirreno). All in the general area of the CP, none of which is very convenient for sightseeing and a very long way from the Borghese .

Your hotel has a courtesy bus to the center. I for one will be interested in reading what you have to say about the hotel and accessibility/convenience to sights. If I ever manage to take my sister and her family to Rome, it will be summer because of the little one, and the little one (and thus the rest of us) will be a lot happier/quieter with a pool.
