Suggestions for Feb. Anniversary in Paris

I am surprising my wife with a 4 day trip to Paris for our anniversary. It is her first time to Paris. I know that we should stay somewhere close to the center of the city, but I am looking for what area to stay and possibly some hotel recommendations. Thanks.

Recommending a hotel is difficult without knowing (1) your budget and (2) your preferences for amenities.

Most of the big name sights are in the arrondissements that are close to the Seine (1-8). There are hundreds of hotels, from quaint to modern, from a few dollars to several hundred - all within the area.

Check the website www.parishotels.com for a list of hotels by area and price range. I'd definitely recommend that you stay in the Quartier Latin or Saint Germain areas, very central with lots of charm. One hotel I heard is good --subject to other fodorites' comments-- is the Residence des Arts in the 6th arrondissement (they have a website). I'm a former parisian so email me if you need more info/tips. I met my US husbandin Paris, have left my beloved city for the US and can guarantee you that your wife will have the most romantic time of her life! Have fun

We just got back from our own four-day anniversary trip, and it was GREAT. It was our first time, and we were very happy to be in the Latin Qaurter, near Pl. San Michel. We stayed at the Hotel du Levant, a last-minute replacement reservation during a very busy season, and we loved it. Our first choice would have been the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. Check out hotelboulevard.com. they have tons of listings with photos and customer coments. Have a great time.

Please visit the website www.france.com. It is a VERY informative site for selecting and making reservations at Paris hotels. They provide reviews from other travelers which I found EXTREMELY helpful. My husband and I are going to Paris in January and are staying at the Hotel Le Regent in the 6e. It seems to be a perfect location and has had wonderful reviews. Another hotel I can recommend is Relais St. Sulpice. Have a great trip!
