Suggestions for Berner Oberland area when it rains

Mel, l just returned from two weeks in Switzerland and, of course, packed layers. Included was a puffy Patagonia parka, which for 10 days I thought would go untouched. But I wore it everyday at the end of the trip.
Glad you had a good time and flexibility paid off, Lia!

Thank you lia for reporting back! I love to hear back from posters!
Melnq8...I feel your pain! I usually travel in Oct or November, and every single time, I get anxious about how heavy to make my layers. Fwiw, this is what I usually end up doing:
Several long-sleeve t-shirts to wear next to the body (I get cold easily and need the added warmth). They launder easily and dry overnight.
A few (2 or 3) light-weight sweaters.
A cardigan
A rainjacket with liner and hood if I'm going hiking, a thin wool coat if it's an urban visit.
If it's really cold, the sweater + jacket/coat will be enough.
Hope you get it figured out!

Thanks fpor the report. That proves one again that all these wheather forecasts invented far away from Switzerland should be classified as fakes.
BTW: I was in Valais during the same period and the weather was just perfect: sunny and warm with almost no clouds.

Just yesterday I thought I'd decided what to pack clothing-wise, but now I'm waffling again - a puffy Patagonia parka? Nelson, please tell me it wasn't down! If it was I may have to rethink my plan, which is similar to swandav's list. (Looking forward to a very detailed trip report from you Nelson, better get cracking
I'd planned to take a pair of fleece lined hiking pants in addition to the usual light weight hiking pants, a pair of thermals that will fit underneath the light pants to make them dual purpose, a fleece jacket and a waterproof jacket with hood, which can be worn separately or together, a fleece hat, a sun hat, a fleece neck gaiter, a pair of mittens, and if I have room (recently downsized my suitcase) my water proof hiking boots.
I tend to get by with my fleece jacket here in Colorado throughout much of the winter. When it dips below 30 F I pull out a heavier coat.
Pardon the hijack Lia.

Not down but their micro puff jacket, the next best thing: light and very warm for its weight, packs down really small, expensive. I would have been OK with the fleece jacket but since the micro was packed I decided to use it. I wasn't the only one.
I'll try to do a short TR and post a few photos.
