Suggestion for must see sites in Paris

I will be in Paris from Nov. 10th through Sunday Nov. 14th. I have never been to Europe. I am 50 years old, and love women ... so any erotic (public baths, massage houses) or cultural sites that are on your list, would be of great interest.
Thank You,
Ron

I believe the Venus de Milo in the Louvre is nude. Not to mention my favorite female nude painting, the large one by Ingres in the Louvre of a woman with a turban on her head in a Turkish bath setting, I think (the one Man Ray used for inspiration in his collage photo Le Violon d'Ingres).

Where is Rick Steves when you need him? He has at least written about this subject for Amsterdam. I guess you could do an expensive tour of all the cabarets - the Moulin Rouge, the Lido, the Crazy Horse, etc., as well as the Pigalle area down the hill from Montmartre. That is as far as my knowledge of these things goes...

Nekkid wimmins in the Picasso Museum (you have to search for the specific parts, though, they aren't where you would think)

Hey you guys--I couldn't come up with anything clever, so I waited for Elvira and Martha to come through as I knew they would as soon as I saw the post. And good for you Christina--outstanding. Nekkid wimmens of the world arouse--whoops, I mean arise!

Here's an idea. Go to Montmartre in the Moulin Rouge neighborhood and drop into any bar where you will be encouraged by a gorgoues woman to buy her champagne. If you're attractive and still fit (at your age) she might be pursuaded, for a considerable fee, to drag you around to the stuff you'd like to see. Somehow, I doubt it though...

On a recent trip to Paris with my two teenaged girls, we walked through the garment center...in search of bargains of course...and were surprised to see that the streets in that part of town were well stocked with the type of woman that may appeal to you.

Believe it or not, there's a "Museum of Erotica" in Montmartre, near the Pigalle metro stop.

Hay Dan! I seen them nakked wimmins at the Muszee dorsey to. My boss wouldda had a fit, given his Southern Baptist membership. I thot wun of 'em was real purty. Too bad I couldn't take her home; the post card did not quite do the subject justice.

For Ron: I think a tour of the ergouts of Paris would be quite appropriate experience for you.

Just to offer a correction. The normal pronunication would be "purdy," not "purty," but you were close. And are you saying that "Ron a son cerveau dans les egouts?"

Dan, the spelling redneck used is ok if you are from south Georgia, west of Douglas, or from south Alabama east of Adalusia and south of a line running due east west from Pine Level. Elsewhere it can be spelled
preddy
purdy
etc.
It just depends on how late in the fall you go barefooted.

Christina, I am a new appreciator of old Ingres and am trying to learn as much as I can. Do you know where the Man Ray
collage is these days, which museum?
I also recently ate at the
Paris restaurant le Violon d'Ingres
and I just saw a wonderful Ingres
exhibit in New York so I'm eager to learn more about Ingres paintings as well as his violin. Thanks.
The Man Ray collage Le Violon d'Ingres used to be at the Pompidou Center (with some of his other works). Of course, it's been mostly closed for renovation, although due for reopening in Jan 2000, I think. Not sure if it was shown during that time or not; if so, I'd guess the only other venue might be the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris on av Pres Wilson in the 16th, they have some modern photography there. I've heard the restaurant Violin d'Ingres is good, but trendy, and maybe hard to get into or overpriced. The Ingres exhibition was here where I live, also (in Washington DC); I really like his work and I do love that painting, the Odalisque. Actually, Ingres did quite a few erotic paintings, which are in the Louvre. Yo, Ralph -- don't know where you've been but you don't have to be fairly young, goodlooking, fit, etc to pick up hookers, all you really need is lots of francs to wave around -- and if you think a regular cup of espresso is expensive at a cafe in Paris .... I don't think prostitutes in bars in the Pigalle area (or the Les Halles area or rue St-Denis -- look, I'm giving Ron all kinds of useful hints) are the best cultural tour guides, though; but you never know, maybe in France they all have art history degrees.

Thanks for the information Christina.
The restaurant Le Violon d'Ingres
was not inexpensive, but it was my favorite place during my recent trip, compared to both pricier and cheaper places. I've been a fan of the chef for years.

Georgia, The Thinker is at the Rodin
Museum in Paris, among other museums around the world--Rodin
made casts.
For Dan. I don't speak none of that French stuff. So I kin't answer yore queschun about my idea fer Ron cause I kin't reed it. Hope you all don't mind. But I weren't tryin to be no guttersnipe.

As for spelling purdy or purty, it depends on how pretty. In rural Southern parlance, descriptions of feminine pulchritude can be delineated by scaled spelling variations on a basic lexicographic theme.
