Working on two days in Florence - what do you experienced travelers reccommend as the top "Must See" for 3 students visitng Italy the first time?

Suggestions can include museums, galleries, sites, activities...

And then -
What are the top "Must See"s for two days in Rome? I basically have the religious sites down top bet. all the guides I'm reading, what else...?

The reason to spend more nights in one place is not about how much energy you have...it's about being able to use your energy to dig in deep and see below the surface of a town. If you only have 1 or 2 days someplace, you won't see past the first layer...

Italian cities are amazingly culturally rich places...so much to see, taste, hear, and experience...

Rome in particular is awesome. There is enough in Rome alone to keep you fascinated for all of your 8 days!

If you spend 1 night in each of 8 cities, that will be 8 cities you never get to "see"!
