Student Traveling-What cities to go to with time constraint?
Hello,
This is my first time posting on this site and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me choose cities to visit. I will be studying in Dublin this summer till July 25 and then traveling afterwards. I have a little more than 3 weeks to try and see as much of Europe as I can. I was going to start in Paris to see the end of the Tour de France. I really want to see the following cities but don't think I will have enough time, is it possible to help me eliminate some or have suggestions on what I should do?
The cities:
Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Athens, Rome, Florence, South of France ( Monaco, Nice, Marseilles), and fly out of Barcelona.
Thank you for your help!!

So just picking the odd cities out I would get rid of Copenhagen, Belgrade and Athens, too much travel time to get to and away from these cities. Just to give you an idea about time here are the full days I am spending in a few of your cities when I am backpacking Europe this summer. Amsterdam-3, Berlin-4, Munich-3, Rome-4. With that I would pick around 2 cities per week, so that's 6 cities. If I got to choose I would do: Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, South of France, and Prague or Barcelona depending on where you fly out.

OP should be considering buying a Eurail Youthpass (if under 26) - a bargain way to travel around and also to meet the many other young folk from Europe and abroad - on trains and in hostels. If going to big cities mainly the train IMO is the way to go. For lots of European trains and railpasses: www.seat61.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com - sites with lots of useful info besides the usual pass prices and a click here to buy button that many sites only seem to have.
buy your pass before leaving - europeans can't use them so they are not marketed in Europe. The 21-straightr day Youthpass can be a great deal - esp as the typical young traveler does travel a lot - hopping the many overnight trains saves money on accommodations and lets you literally go from one end of Europe to the other overnight.

Sorry about not mentioning how I would travel, I do plan on buying the rail pass as suggested in the previous post. I also don't mind traveling by any other means besides car, so that means plane or boat. I appreciate all the advice thus far!

you can mix planes with a railpass - say you train to Spain then want to hop to London - flying would make sense for that trajectory. check out www.whichbudget.com for links to cheaper flights serving any two cities and www.skyscanner.net or ryanair.com or easyjet.com
