Stromboli Anyone?
For many years now I have thought of the newsreels of Stromboli where Rosselini and Bergman had their affair. Now I am going to Naples area in the Fall and would like to visit there. Any ideas? Where to stay? How to get there?
But most of all, anything to do?
Not much info in tour books. Thanks.

From Naples, you can take the overnight ferry (2 or 3 times a week during the fall/winter season) which arrives in Stromboli at the crack of dawn. Alternatively, you can take the train to Reggio Calabria and a hydrofoil from there, or train to Milazzo (Sicily) and hydrofoil or ferry from there. Read the Rough Guide to Sicily, Cadogan's Guide to Sicily, Insight Guide to Sicily, Blue Guide to Sicily, Michelin's Green Guide to Sicily, Touring Club Italiano Guide to Sicily, and Lonely Planet Guide to Sicily for suggestions. Most hotels close in October, but you will always find rooms in boarding houses all year round. Take the evening boat tour to view lava from the volcano.
