Strikes in Norway

Hi

Just a bit of information about the current strikes in Norway. First of all there is a strike in the transporting business. This means that grocery stores like Rimi, Rema, Kiwi etc are not getting their normal supply of merchandise and the stores looks a bit empty at the moment. But there are other chains of grocery stores that are not on strike (like COOP) so it is possible to get all you need.

There is also a conflict when it comes to the journalists. This means that newspapers like VG (Verdens Gang) and Dagbladet won't come out on a daily basis. For most visitors this shouldn't be a problem

What can turn out to be a problem is the strike in the restaurant/hotel business. At the moment not that many workers are on strike but this will be escalated on Saturday. Hopefully this is a strike that will end before the main tourist season starts.

Hi

Yes, the hotel strike ended after only a day. But today it seems like the breweries(?) will go on strike. Hopefully it won't last that long...or maybe I should go and buy some Coke just in case

And just to clarify, the breweries are responsible for both beer and sodas. So after a week or two your options are basicly wine and water
