Strasbourg to Colmar-- train or car?
Any suggestions on what to see in Strasbourg and Colmar and Haut-Koenigs? Also how best to get around--car or train? How long commuting time? Any MUST Sees? Thank you all.

I recently spent about 9 days in the Alsace area, beginning in Strasbourg and ending in Colmar. I spent my first 3 nights in Strasbourg, without a car.
It's a beautiful city, well worth 2 full days. The cathedral, of course, is the main "must see" there, as well as the Petite France area. There are also some great museums - I enjoyed the Alsacien Museum and the Musee L'Oeuvre Notre Dame, and also liked the boat ride, which allows you to see parts of Strasbourg you might otherwise miss.
In Colmar the must sees are the Unterlinden Museum with the beautiful Isenheim Alterpiece - really spectacular. Colmar is also fun to walk around in, mostly the old town and Petite Venise section. If I had a choice of either Strasbourg or Colmar, I would choose Strasbourg - but Colmar is certainly worth seeing.
In between those two cities, I had a car and visited some of the villages on the Route des Vins, and also the castle of Haut Koenigsberg (well worth it!)

Agree with Sue....we did it one day by car and one by train and doing it by car let us see much more , especially the little villages. Also agree that Strasbourg is the pick of the two for the same reasons. Have fun!
