Strasbourg Christmas Market day trip (date) help.
In Paris for 11 days around Christmas. Research and these forums have led us to pick Strasbourg for a day trip. We would go either on the 21st or 22nd of December or even the 26th. Does a weekday offer more than a Sunday? Is everything open on Sunday? Is before Christmas or after better for crowds or does it not even matter? Can you get around mostly on foot or is public transportation easier? We will arrive by train. Thanks in advance for all your help.

A weekday would be better than the weekend, because the weekends are jammed with visitors from half of eastern France and half of western Germany. If you are there on a Sunday at that time of year, everything will be open -- especially the Christmas market -- although normally Alsace-Moselle is closed like an oyster on Sunday at all other times of the year.
You can get around all of Strasbourg on foot with no problem at all, but the tram system is easy and convenient. If you are looking for Christmas decoration items, the "De Broglie" stop on the tram will take you to the Christmas market specialized in those items.

Also not sure if you know, but there are several Christmas markets in Strasbourg. So don't think when you see the first one, that that is IT!
We had a week there over Christmas a few years ago and had never seen the Christmas markets and were surprised to find they are dotted about the centre of town. There was one that was quite a bit bigger than the others but they are all worth looking at.

Yes KayF we found that info on www.noel.strasbourg.eu/. Thanks for the heads up. Do the trams run frequently?
