Strasbourg, Brussels or Lucerne???

We are currently planning on spending 3 nights and 2.5 days in lucerne. From there we will be moving north and have the option of spending two nights in brussels, or 1 night in brussels and 1 night in strasbourg or just adding extra time to lucerne. What do you all think? I heard a pretty good overview of brussels can be achieved in a day? Should we just add the time to lucerne and go to brussels and forget about the strasbourg stop?? Any suggestions?

Do you have to end up in Brussels?

These are very different destinations.

I would do Brussels plus Strasbourg only if I have compelling reasons. It is the most demanding of the options. If you are only looking a places to stay without any specific objectives, I wouldn't do it.

No we are going to end in drusseldorf and it is kinda on our way back. It will cut into our trip and take days away from other locations but I thought maybe it would be nice to see them along the way. Maybe it won't be worth it since it is so rushed?

I'd spend that day or two in Brugge/Gent.
