Steve, My husband and I will be traveling to Positano next May from Venice. We're planning to take a train into Salerno and pick up a rental car. I like your idea of taking a boat to Positano. Do you know if we can take a car on the boat? If not
maybe we can arrange for a rental to be delivered to our hotel. Do you have
a phone number or website for the company that handles this boat?

Thank you for your help,
Tammy

Hello Tammy,

No - you can't take a car on the boat. It's just a passenger service by high-speed boat, - the journey takes 70 minutes, cost: 9.000 LIRE, (- or 4.5 EUROS next year).

It's an hourly service from 1st.June through the 'high season', - I'm sure it'll operate in May too, though perhaps less frequently.

The operator is:
TRA.VEL.MAR Srl
Tel. 089/873190
Fax. 089/872950

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of any more help ...

Steve

P.S. Tammy - I should have said: Arriving by boat is a lovely option - but only if you're:
- travelling light, or
- staying near the quayside.

There is no access to the quay by road, so taxi isn't an option, - although there is a porter service. It's a steady climb all the way!

Steve
